Sonnet To Consumption Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEDFF

Gently most gently on thy victim's headA
Consumption lay thine hand let me decayB
Like the expiring lamp unseen awayB
And softly go to slumber with the deadA
And if 'tis true what holy men have saidA
That strains angelic oft foretell the dayB
Of death to those good men who fall thy preyB
O let the a euml rial music round my bedA
Dissolving sad in dying symphonyC
Whisper the solemn warning in mine earD
That I may bid my weeping friends good byE
Ere I depart upon my journey drearD
And smiling faintly on the painful pastF
Compose my decent head and breathe my lastF
