Sonnet To Capel Lofft, Esq. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDFGHFII

Lofft unto thee one tributary songA
The simple Muse admiring fain would bringB
She longs to lisp thee to the listening throngA
And with thy name to bid the woodlands ringB
Fain would she blazon all thy virtues forthC
Thy warm philanthropy thy justice mildD
Would say how thou didst foster kindred worthE
And to thy bosom snatch'd Misfortune's childD
Firm she would paint thee with becoming zealF
Upright and learned as the Pylian sireG
Would say how sweetly thou couldst sweep the lyreH
And show thy labours for the public wealF
Ten thousand virtues tell with joys supremeI
But ah she shrinks abash'd before the arduous themeI
