Sonnet (quick O'er The Wintry Waste Dart Fiery Shafts) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBBBCBCBDBDEEQuick o'er the wintry waste dart fiery shafts | A |
Bleak blows the blast now howls then faintly dies | B |
And oft upon its awful wings it wafts | B |
The dying wanderer's distant feeble cries | B |
Now when athwart the gloom gaunt Horror stalks | B |
And midnight hags their damned vigils hold | C |
The pensive poet 'mid the wild waste walks | B |
And ponders on the ills life's paths unfold | C |
Mindless of dangers hovering round he goes | B |
Insensible to every outward ill | D |
Yet oft his bosom heaves with rending throes | B |
And oft big tears adown his worn cheeks trill | D |
Ah 'tis the anguish of a mental sore | E |
Which gnaws his heart and bids him hope no more | E |
