Hymn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB CCDD EFGG HHDD IIJJ KKDD LLMM NNDD

In Heaven we shall be purified so as to be able to endureA
the splendours of the DeityB
-
-
Awake sweet harp of Judah wakeC
Retune thy strings for Jesus' sakeC
We sing the Saviour of our raceD
The Lamb our shield and hiding placeD
-
When God's right arm is bared for warE
And thunders clothe his cloudy carF
Where where oh where shall man retireG
To escape the horrors of his ireG
-
'Tis he the Lamb to him we flyH
While the dread tempest passes byH
God sees his Well beloved's faceD
And spares us in our hiding placeD
-
Thus while we dwell in this low sceneI
The Lamb is our unfailing screenI
To him though guilty still we runJ
And God still spares us for his SonJ
-
While yet we sojourn here belowK
Pollutions still our hearts o'erflowK
Fallen abject mean a sentenced raceD
We deeply need a hiding placeD
-
Yet courage days and years will glideL
And we shall lay these clods asideL
Shall be baptized in Jordan's floodM
And wash'd in Jesus' cleansing bloodM
-
Then pure immortal sinless freedN
We through the Lamb shall be decreedN
Shall meet the Father face to faceD
And need no more a hiding placeD
