Rhyme Scheme: AB CCDD EFGG HHDD IIJJ KKDD LLMM NNDDIn Heaven we shall be purified so as to be able to endure | A |
the splendours of the Deity | B |

- | |
Awake sweet harp of Judah wake | C |
Retune thy strings for Jesus' sake | C |
We sing the Saviour of our race | D |
The Lamb our shield and hiding place | D |
- | |
When God's right arm is bared for war | E |
And thunders clothe his cloudy car | F |
Where where oh where shall man retire | G |
To escape the horrors of his ire | G |
- | |
'Tis he the Lamb to him we fly | H |
While the dread tempest passes by | H |
God sees his Well beloved's face | D |
And spares us in our hiding place | D |
- | |
Thus while we dwell in this low scene | I |
The Lamb is our unfailing screen | I |
To him though guilty still we run | J |
And God still spares us for his Son | J |
- | |
While yet we sojourn here below | K |
Pollutions still our hearts o'erflow | K |
Fallen abject mean a sentenced race | D |
We deeply need a hiding place | D |
- | |
Yet courage days and years will glide | L |
And we shall lay these clods aside | L |
Shall be baptized in Jordan's flood | M |
And wash'd in Jesus' cleansing blood | M |
- | |
Then pure immortal sinless freed | N |
We through the Lamb shall be decreed | N |
Shall meet the Father face to face | D |
And need no more a hiding place | D |
