A Pastoral Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFG HIHIJK LMLMCC

Come Anna come the morning dawnsA
Faint streaks of radiance tinge the skiesB
Come let us seek the dewy lawnsA
And watch the early lark ariseB
While nature clad in vesture gayC
Hails the loved return of dayC
-
Our flocks that nip the scanty bladeD
Upon the moor shall seek the valeE
And then secure beneath the shadeD
We'll listen to the throstle's taleE
And watch the silver clouds aboveF
As o'er the azure vault they roveG
-
Come Anna come and bring thy luteH
That with its tones so softly sweetI
In cadence with my mellow fluteH
We may beguile the noontide heatI
While near the mellow bee shall joinJ
To raise a harmony divineK
-
And then at eve when silence reignsL
Except when heard the beetle's humM
We'll leave the sober tinted plainsL
To these sweet heights again we'll comeM
And thou to thy soft lute shalt playC
A solemn vesper to departing dayC
