A Hymn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DECC FFGG HHDD IIJJ

O Lord my God in mercy turnA
In mercy hear a sinner mournB
To thee I call to thee I cryC
O leave me leave me not to dieC
-
I strove against thee Lord I knowD
I spurn'd thy grace I mock'd thy lawE
The hour is past the day's gone byC
And I am left alone to dieC
-
O pleasures past what are ye nowF
But thorns about my bleeding browF
Spectres that hover round my brainG
And aggravate and mock my painG
-
For pleasure I have given my soulH
Now Justice let thy thunders rollH
Now Vengeance smile and with a blowD
Lay the rebellious ingrate lowD
-
Yet Jesus Jesus there I'll clingI
I'll crowd beneath his sheltering wingI
I'll clasp the cross and holding thereJ
Even me oh bliss his wrath may spareJ
