Imogen Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBCCDBD EFEFFGEG HIHIIJHJ

A Lady of Tender AgeA
-
Ladies where were your bright eyes glancingB
Where were they glancing yester nightC
Saw ye Imogen dancing dancingB
Imogen dancing all in whiteC
Laughed she not with a pure delightC
Laughed she not with a joy sereneD
Stepped she not with a grace entrancingB
Slenderly girt in silken sheenD
-
All through the night from dusk to daytimeE
Under her feet the hours were swiftF
Under her feet the hours of play timeE
Rose and fell with a rhythmic liftF
Music set her adrift adriftF
Music eddying towards the dayG
Swept her along as brooks in May timeE
Carry the freshly falling MayG
-
Ladies life is a changing measureH
Youth is a lilt that endeth soonI
Pluck ye never so fast at pleasureH
Twilight follows the longest noonI
Nay but here is a lasting boonI
Life for hearts that are old and chillJ
Youth undying for hearts that treasureH
Imogen dancing dancing stillJ
