Ad Matrem Dolorosam Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFGFHH IJIJKK

Think not thy little fountain's rainA
That in the sunlight rose and flashedB
From the bright sky has fallen againC
To cold and shadowy silence dashedB
The Joy that in her radiance leaptD
From everlasting hath not sleptD
-
The hand that to thy hand was dearE
The untroubled eyes that mirrored thineF
The voice that gave thy soul to hearG
A whisper of the Love DivineF
What though the gold was mixed with dustH
The gold is thine and cannot rustH
-
Nor fear because thy darling's heartI
No longer beats with mortal lifeJ
That she has missed the ennobling partI
Of human growth and human strifeJ
Only she has the eternal peaceK
Wherein to reap the soul's increaseK
