Away! Away! Away! Away! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG HIDI JKJK LMLM NONO PQPP KRKR

Away away away awayA
Ye have not kept your secret wellB
I will abide that other dayA
Those other lands ye tellB
-
Has time no leisure left for theseC
The acts that ye rehearseD
Is not eternity a leaseE
For better deeds than verseD
-
Tis sweet to hear of heroes deadF
To know them still aliveG
But sweeter if we earn their breadF
And in us they surviveG
-
Our life should feed the springs of fameH
With a perennial waveI
As ocean feeds the babbling fountsD
Which find it in their graveI
-
Ye skies dropp gently round my breastJ
And be my corselet blueK
Ye earth receive my lance in restJ
My faithful charger youK
-
Ye stars my spear heads in the skyL
My arrow tips ye areM
I see the routed foemen flyL
My bright spears fixed areM
-
Give me an angel for a foeN
Fix now the place and timeO
And straight to meet him I will goN
Above the starry chimeO
-
And with our clashing bucklers clangP
The heavenly spears shall ringQ
While bright the northern lights shall hangP
Beside our tourneyingP
-
And if she lose her champion trueK
Tell Heaven not despairR
For I will be her champion newK
Her fame I will repairR
