On The Death Of Sir Philip Sidney Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAABBDEFEFGG

Give pardon bless egrave d soul to my bold criesA
If they importune interrupt thy songB
Which now with joyful notes thou sing'st amongC
The angel quiristers of th' heavenly skiesA
Give pardon eke sweet soul to my slow eyesA
That since I saw thee now it is so longB
And yet the tears that unto thee belongB
To thee as yet they did not sacrificeD
I did not know that thou wert dead beforeE
I did not feel the grief I did sustainF
The greater stroke astonisheth the moreE
Astonishment takes from us sense of painF
I stood amazed when others' tears begunG
And now begin to weep when they have doneG
