There Is A River We All Must Cross Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE DFGF HIBI DBCB

There is a river we all must crossA
Thousands will pass it tomorrowB
Some will go down to its waters with joyC
Others with anguish and sorrowB
-
Some will be welcom'd by angel bandsD
Coming from over the riverE
Others be borne by the current adownF
Where there is none to deliverE
-
These shall land safely in Eden's bow'rsD
Wearing the white robes of pardonF
Those shall be cast on a desolate shoreG
Far from the gates of the gardenF
-
These shall have voices to join the songH
Ever from Eden ascendingI
Those shall unite in the wailings of woeB
Woe that hath never an endingI
-
Over the river we all must crossD
Jesus may call us tomorrowB
Shall we go down to its waters with joyC
Shall we with anguish and sorrowB
