The Silver Horn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD AAEEFFGG AAHHIIJJ AAKKLLMM

Come rest with me now my silver hornA
My melodious joy my silver hornA
These many long years my constant friendB
Together let our toiling endB
Yet fain would I ask were mine the choiceC
For a moment of strength to give thee voiceC
One silvery peal ere life shall ceaseD
But not for war for blessed peaceD
-
Yes once again ring sweet silver hornA
That long ago rang on battle mornA
From vale and glen that summon'd thenE
To arms to arms a thousand menE
For peace ring now for peace ring highF
Ring a welcoming peal that shall not dieF
Till mountain and mound the earth aroundG
Responsive songs in echo soundG
-
Thy whispers I hear my silver hornA
My melodious joy my silver hornA
They comfort me oft with such controlH
Methinks thou hast a living soulH
Then cherish we both one calm contentI
For the land that we love our powers were spentI
And o're the turf that greens our graveJ
For ages may her banner waveJ
-
I kiss thee adieu my silver hornA
My melodious joy my silver hornA
Then suddenly loos'd the bugler's claspK
His kiss was but a dying gaspK
Yet marvels of power can love evokeL
At the touch of his lips the bugle spokeL
And wondrously sweet and clear and strongM
From thence outrang a silver songM
