The Picture On The Wall Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GEHHE IJKJLEME MJNJOEIE

'Tis noon of night the sable cloudsA
Hang weeping in the skyB
Alone I sit where fancies flitC
Like spectral shadows byB
Me thinks I see familiar formsD
And on before them allE
So fair so calm so wondrous like wondrous likeF
The picture on the wallE
-
Among the brave and loyalG
How many lov'd ones fallE
Whose friends bereftH
Have only left only leftH
A picture on the wallE
-
I hear the press of eager feetI
Upon my parlor floorJ
A moment and my willing armsK
Enclasp my boy once moreJ
I feel his warm breath on my cheekL
But when his name I callE
A shadowy finger points to me points me toM
His picture on the wallE
-
The moon's full radiance struggles throughM
And lights my room once moreJ
And thus shall heav'n O heart of mineN
Thy seeming loss restoreJ
Its light shall gild the present gloomO
And sweeter spells enthralE
Than that which binds me to this sweet to this sweetI
True picture on the wallE
