Georgie Sails To-morrow! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCD CDCD EFEFCD GCGCCD AHAHCD CDCD

For sixteen years a merry laughing maidenA
I have warbl'd only songs of joyB
And in this heart so very lightly ladenA
Happy thoughts have ever found employB
But times will change and now there comes a sorrowC
Which bids me ev'ry joy resignD
-
My Georgie sails for China seas tomorrowC
And he knows not yet that he is mineD
My Georgie sails for China seas tomorrowC
And he knows not yet that he is mineD
-
How should he know 'twas from a dream awakingE
When they told me he and I must partF
For not until the tie was nearly breakingE
Had I felt its tendrils on my heartF
These lips are seal'd I cannot tell my sorrowC
And hope must die without a signD
-
Oh who can tell the fearful scenes of dangerG
And the hardships Georgie dear must knowC
On stormy seas in foreign lands a strangerG
Oh I cannot cannot let him goC
My heart will break where shall I patience borrowC
For months thro' which I can but pineD
-
The last farewell that solemn word is spokenA
And my spirit trembles with its thrillH
His manly tones by deep emotion brokenA
In my inmost soul are ringing stillH
But strange wild joy is mingled with my sorrowC
And smiles among my tear drops shineD
-
My Georgie sails for China seas to morrowC
But he knows he knows that he is mineD
My Georgie sails for China seas to morrowC
But he knows he knows that he is mineD
