Beautiful Rose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD DEDE FGFGHIHI JGGGKLKL

Off on the prairie where the balmy airA
Kisses the waving cornB
There lives a farmer with a daughter fairA
Fair as a summer's mornB
She has a nature gentle as a doveC
Pure as the mountain snowsD
Say is it strange that everyone should loveC
Love such a girl as RoseD
-
Beautiful Rose lovely RoseD
Pride of the prairie bowerE
Everybody loves her everybody knowsD
She is the fairest flowerE
-
Rose is a lady yet from early dawnF
Labors her skillful handG
She is the housewife now her mother's goneF
Gone to the better landG
Rose has the beauty father has the goldH
Both will be hers one dayI
For she is young while he is growing oldH
Old people pass awayI
-
Clerks from the city plowmen from the fieldJ
Lords from a foreign landG
Each in their turn have very humbly kneeledG
Kneeled for her heart and handG
But to them all she made the same replyK
Kindly but firmly NoL
And none but I can tell the reason whyK
Why she should treat them soL
