The First Lie Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH

I'm sure I did not break this cupA
It just fell down I know it didB
For I was only climbing upA
Why do they keep the cake box hidB
I wanted such a little bitC
And then I heard that creaking doorD
I can't tell what it was I hitC
Nor how that cup got on the floorD
-
The shelf it stood on was too highE
That cup my mother loved the mostF
Oh dear I never told a lieE
And mother whispered Do not boastF
The day I said I never couldG
But there's that broken cup and thenH
I promised that I never wouldG
So I'll not tell a lie againH
