| It just fell down I know it did | B |
| For I was only climbing up | A |
| Why do they keep the cake box hid | B |
| I wanted such a little bit | C |
| And then I heard that creaking door | D |
| I can't tell what it was I hit | C |
| Nor how that cup got on the floor | D |

| The shelf it stood on was too high | E |
| That cup my mother loved the most | F |
| Oh dear I never told a lie | E |
| And mother whispered Do not boast | F |
| The day I said I never could | G |
| But there's that broken cup and then | H |
