The Cry Of The Women Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFE

A new year dawning on a warring worldA
And many fight and many pray for peaceB
But yet the roar of battle will not ceaseB
Still man against his brother man is hurledA
-
So we who wait we women in our woeC
Who wait and work who wait and work and weepD
For us there is no rest for us no sleepD
As our sad thoughts are wandering grim and slowC
-
Across those dreary fields where far awayE
Our hero myriads bleed and burn and dieF
We lift our hearts toward the pitying skyF
Dawns there no hope upon this New Year's dayE
