Self-satisfied Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHAA

Well satisfied with all his own he standsA
Holding a trembling balance in his handsA
On one scale wealth and ease men's praises tooB
Whatever charms the soul and keeps it trueB
But on the other scale lo the foul streetC
Where pallid children play where poor folk greetC
And crowded houses dirty dimly litD
On whose dull walls all misery is writD
Houses wherein the herded cannot fightE
The ambushed evil lurking day and nightE
Has he contented one who counts his gainF
Balanced the cost the wretchedness and painF
Of those who help him hoard his heap of goldG
Ah human life may be too dearly soldG
For see the one scale weighs the other downH
His gold his ease his honors by Heaven's frownH
Withered to nothing now behold he standsA
Broken his scales reaching imploring handsA
