Ah! Little Lake Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDE FGGF HIIH EJJE KLLL MLLM NOPN

Ah little lake though fair thou artA
A sapphire flashing to the skyB
Thy charm is only for the eyeB
Thy beauty cannot hold my heartA
-
Green hill sides bending to thy shoreC
Gleam clear in the autumnal lightD
While far above Monadnock's heightD
Keeps rugged guard thy waters o'erE
-
And yet these very beauties cloyF
As in a prison I am boundG
Though fair the walls that gird me roundG
My housemate is no longer joyF
-
Thy loveliness breeds discontentH
For far my foolish heart would beI
It longs for the unquiet seaI
And with desire is sorely rentH
-
Hateful the walls that me debarE
From happier things that haunt me soJ
Even my weary thoughts are slowJ
To reach the great great world afarE
-
I half believe there is no worldK
Those cruel hill tops there beyondL
Oh for the wizard Merlin's wandL
That all these mountain curves uncurledL
-
I might behold the shore I loveM
Might hear the roaring of the tideL
Might see the ocean reaching wideL
And boundless as the sky aboveM
-
One hour beside that sea kissed beachN
Quick throbbing to its love's caressO
Would yield to me more happinessP
Than a whole life time here could teachN
