The Angel Of Pain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHIJJAA EE

Angel of Pain I think thy faceA
Will be in all the heavenly placeA
The sweetest face that I shall seeB
The swiftest face to smile on meB
All other angels faint and tireC
Joy wearies and forsakes desireC
Hope falters face to face with FateD
And dies because it cannot waitD
And Love cuts short each loving dayE
Because fond hearts cannot obeyE
That subtlest law which measures blissF
By what it is content to missF
But thou O loving faithful PainG
Hated reproached rejected slainG
Dost only closer cling and blessH
In sweeter stronger steadfastnessI
Dear patient angel to thine ownJ
Thou comest and art never knownJ
Till late in some lone twilight placeA
The light of thy transfigured faceA
Sudden shines out and speechless theyE
Know they have walked with Christ all dayE
