God's Light-houses Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE CGDG HIJI KDLD MNON

When night falls on the earth the seaA
From east to west lies twinkling brightB
With shining beams from beacons highC
Which flash afar a friendly lightB
-
The sailor's eyes like eyes in prayerD
Turn unto them for guiding rayE
If storms obscure their radianceF
The great ships helpless grope their wayE
-
When night falls on the earth the skyC
Looks like a wide a boundless mainG
Who knows what voyagers sail thereD
Who names the ports they seek and gainG
-
Are not the stars like beacons setH
To guide the argosies that goI
From universe to universeJ
Our little world above belowI
-
On their great errands solemn bentK
In their vast journeys unawareD
Of our small planet's name or placeL
Revolving in the lower airD
-
O thought too vast O thought too gladM
An awe most rapturous it stirsN
From world to world God's beacons shineO
God means to save his marinersN
