Rhyme Scheme: ABBACBBADDCECE| What freeman knoweth freedom Never he | A |
| Whose father's father through long lives have reigned | B |
| O'er kingdoms which mere heritage attained | B |
| Though from his youth to age he roam as free | A |
| As winds he dreams not freedom's ecstacy | C |
| But he whose birth was in a nation chained | B |
| For centuries where every breath was drained | B |
| From breasts of slaves which knew not there could be | A |
| Such thing as freedom he beholds the light | D |
| Burst dazzling though the glory blind his sight | D |
| He knows the joy Fools laugh because he reels | C |
| And weilds confusedly his infant will | E |
| The wise man watching with a heart that feels | C |
| Says Cure for freedom's harms is freedom still | E |
