O'er kingdoms which mere heritage attained | B |
Though from his youth to age he roam as free | A |
As winds he dreams not freedom's ecstacy | C |
But he whose birth was in a nation chained | B |
For centuries where every breath was drained | B |
From breasts of slaves which knew not there could be | A |
Such thing as freedom he beholds the light | D |
Burst dazzling though the glory blind his sight | D |
He knows the joy Fools laugh because he reels | C |
And weilds confusedly his infant will | E |
The wise man watching with a heart that feels | C |
Says Cure for freedom's harms is freedom still | E |
