Doubt Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAAA CDDCCC AEEAAA

They bade me cast the thing awayA
They pointed to my hands all bleedingB
They listened not to all my pleadingB
The thing I meant I could not sayA
I knew that I should rue the dayA
If once I cast that thing awayA
-
I grasped it firm and bore the painC
The thorny husks I stripped and scatteredD
If I could reach its heart what matteredD
If other men saw not my gainC
Or even if I should be slainC
I knew the risks I chose the painC
-
O had I cast that thing awayA
I had not found what most I cherishE
A faith without which I should perishE
The faith which like a kernel layA
Hid in the husks which on that dayA
My instinct would not throw awayA
