A Calendar Of Sonnets: September Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBCDEFDDF

O golden month How high thy gold is heapedA
The yellow birch leaves shine like bright coins strungB
On wands the chestnut's yellow pennons tongueB
To every wind its harvest challenge SteepedA
In yellow still lie fields where wheat was reapedA
And yellow still the corn sheaves stacked amongB
The yellow gourds which from the earth have wrungB
Her utmost gold To highest boughs have leapedC
The purple grape last thing to ripen lateD
By very reason of its precious costE
O Heart remember vintages are lostF
If grapes do not for freezing night dews waitD
Think while thou sunnest thyself in Joy's estateD
Mayhap thou canst not ripen without frostF
