A Calendar Of Sonnets: July Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBABBBBCCBBC

Some flowers are withered and some joys have diedA
The garden reeks with an East Indian scentB
From beds where gillyflowers stand weak and spentB
The white heat pales the skies from side to sideA
But in still lakes and rivers cool contentB
Like starry blooms on a new firmamentB
White lilies float and regally abideB
In vain the cruel skies their hot rays shedB
The lily does not feel their brazen glareC
In vain the pallid clouds refuse to shareC
Their dews the lily feels no thirst no dreadB
Unharmed she lifts her queenly face and headB
She drinks of living waters and keeps fairC
