A Calendar Of Sonnets: February Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDDC

Still lie the sheltering snows undimmed and whiteA
And reigns the winter's pregnant silence stillB
No sign of spring save that the catkins fillB
And willow stems grow daily red and brightA
These are days when ancients held a riteA
Of expiation for the old year's illB
And prayer to purify the new year's willB
Fit days ere yet the spring rains blur the sightA
Ere yet the bounding blood grows hot with hasteC
And dreaming thoughts grow heavy with a greedD
The ardent summer's joy to have and tasteC
Fit days to give to last year's losses heedD
To recon clear the new life's sterner needD
Fit days for Feast of Expiation placedC
