A Calendar Of Sonnets: December Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECED

The lakes of ice gleam bluer than the lakesA
Of water 'neath the summer sunshine gleamedB
Far fairer than when placidly it streamedB
The brook its frozen architecture makesA
And under bridges white its swift way takesA
Snow comes and goes as messenger who dreamedB
Might linger on the road or one who deemedB
His message hostile gently for their sakesA
Who listened might reveal it by degreesC
We gird against the cold of winter windD
Our loins now with mighty bands of sleepE
In longest darkest nights take rest and easeC
And every shortening day as shadows creepE
O'er the brief noontide fresh surprises findD
