Ellis Park Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFGGHHIIJJKK LLMMNNOO AA

Little park that I pass throughA
I carry off a piece of youA
Every morning hurrying downB
To my work day in the townB
Carry you for country thereC
To make the city ways more fairC
I take your treesD
And your breezeD
Your greennessE
Your cleannessF
Some of your shade some of your skyG
Some of your calm as I go byG
Your flowers to trimH
The pavements grimH
Your space for room in the jostled streetI
And grass for carpet to my feetI
Your fountains take and sweet bird callsJ
To sing me from my office wallsJ
All that I can seeK
I carry off with meK
But you never miss my theftL
So much treasure you have leftL
As I find you fresh at morningM
So I find you home returningM
Nothing lacking from your graceN
All your riches wait in placeN
For me to borrowO
On the morrowO
-
Do you hear this praise of youA
Little park that I pass throughA
