The Dandelions Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FBFBGHGH

Upon a showery night and stillA
Without a sound of warningB
A trooper band surprised the hillA
And held it in the morningB
-
We were not waked by bugle notesC
No cheer our dreams invadedD
And yet at dawn their yellow coatsC
On the green slopes paradedE
-
We careless folk the deed forgotF
Till one day idly walkingB
We marked upon the self same spotF
A crowd of veterans talkingB
They shook their trembling heads and grayG
With pride and noiseless laughterH
When well a day they blew awayG
And ne'er were heard of afterH
