As he had often done beforeA
The woolly headed Black a moorB
One nice fine summer's day went outC
To see the shops and walk aboutC
And as he found it hot poor fellowD
He took with him his green umbrellaE
Then Edward little noisy wagF
Ran out and laughed and waved his flagF
And William came in jacket trimG
And brought his wooden hoop with himG
And Arthur too snatched up his toysH
And joined the other naughty boysH
So one and all set up a roarA
And laughed and hooted more and moreA
And kept on singing only thinkI
Oh Blacky you're as black as inkI
-
Now tall Agrippa lived close byJ
So tall he almost touched the skyJ
He had a mighty inkstand tooK
In which a great goose feather grewK
He called out in an angry toneL
Boys leave the Black a moor aloneL
For if he tries with all his mightM
He cannot change from black to whiteM
But ah they did not mind a bitN
What great Agrippa said of itN
But went on laughing as beforeA
And hooting at the Black a moorB
-
Then great Agrippa foams with rageO
Look at him on this very pageO
He seizes Arthur seizes NedP
Takes William by his little headP
-
And they may scream and kick and callQ
Into the ink he dips them allQ
Into the inkstand one two threeR
Till they are black as black can beR
Turn over now and you shall seeR
-
See there they are and there they runS
The Black a moor enjoys the funS
They have been made as black as crowsT
Quite black all over eyes and noseT
And legs and arms and heads and toesT
And trousers pinafores and toysH
The silly little inky boysH
Because they set up such a roarA
And teased the harmless Black a moorB
