As he trudged along to schoolA
It was always Johnny's ruleA
To be looking at the skyB
And the clouds that floated byB
But what just before him layC
In his wayC
Johnny never thought aboutD
So that every one cried outD
Look at little Johnny thereE
Little Johnny Head In AirE
-
Running just in Johnny's wayC
Came a little dog one dayC
Johnny's eyes were still astrayC
Up on highB
In the skyB
And he never heard them cryB
Johnny mind the dog is nighB
BumpF
DumpF
Down they fell with such a thumpF
Dog and Johnny in a lumpF
-
Once with head as high as everG
Johnny walked beside the riverG
Johnny watched the swallows tryingH
Which was cleverest at flyingH
Oh what funI
Johnny watched the bright round sunI
Going in and coming outD
This was all he thought aboutD
So he strode on only thinkJ
To the river's very brinkJ
Where the bank was high and steepK
And the water very deepK
And the fishes in a rowL
Stared to see him coming soL
-
One step more oh sad to tellM
Headlong in poor Johnny fellM
And the fishes in dismayC
Wagged their tails and swam awayC
-
There lay Johnny on his faceN
With his nice red writing caseN
But as they were passing byB
Two strong men had heard him cryB
And with sticks these two strong menO
Hooked poor Johnny out againO
-
Oh you should have seen him shiverG
When they pulled him from the riverG
He was in a sorry plightP
Dripping wet and such a frightP
Wet all over everywhereE
Clothes and arms and face and hairE
Johnny never will forgetQ
What it is to be so wetQ
-
And the fishes one two threeR
Are come back again you seeR
Up they came the moment afterG
To enjoy the fun and laughterG
Each popped out his little headS
And to tease poor Johnny saidS
Silly little Johnny lookT
You have lost your writing bookT
