The Story Of Fidgety Philip Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEFFGFGFF HHIIJJKKLLFF MMNNOOPQRSTT

Let me see if Philip canA
Be a little gentlemanB
Let me see if he is ableC
To sit still for once at tableC
Thus Papa bade Phil behaveD
And Mamma looked very graveD
But fidgety PhilE
He won't sit stillE
He wrigglesF
And gigglesF
And then I declareG
Swings backwards and forwardsF
And tilts up his chairG
Just like any rocking horseF
Philip I am getting crossF
-
See the naughty restless childH
Growing still more rude and wildH
Till his chair falls over quiteI
Philip screams with all his mightI
Catches at the cloth but thenJ
That makes matters worse againJ
Down upon the ground they fallK
Glasses plates knives forks and allK
How Mamma did fret and frownL
When she saw them tumbling downL
And Papa made such a faceF
Philip is in sad disgraceF
-
Where is Philip where is heM
Fairly covered up you seeM
Cloth and all are lying on himN
He has pulled down all upon himN
What a terrible to doO
Dishes glasses snapt in twoO
Here a knife and there a forkP
Philip this is cruel workQ
Table all so bare and ahR
Poor Papa and poor MammaS
Look quite cross and wonder howT
They shall have their dinner nowT
