Sophie Spoilall Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEEFFGG HHIJKKEL MMNOPPQQLLRRSTUUVV

I never saw a girl or boyA
So prone as Sophie to destroyA
Whate'er she laid her hands uponB
Though tough as wood or hard as stoneC
With Sophie it was all the sameD
No matter who the thing might claimD
No matter were it choice or rareE
For naught did the destroyer careE
Her playthings shared the common lotF
Though hers they were she spared them notF
Her dolls she oft tore limb from limbG
To gratify a foolish whimG
-
-
Fie said her mother don't you knowH
That if you use your playthings soH
Kriss Kringle will in wrath refuseI
To give you what you might abuseJ
Remember how in times gone byK
You've always found a rich supplyK
Of Christmas presents but bewareE
You'll find no more another yearL
-
-
You'd think such words would surely tendM
To make this child her ways amendM
But no she still her course pursuedN
Regardless of advice so goodO
But when her mother sees 'tis plainP
That all her arguments are vainP
Says she Since I have done my bestQ
I'll let experience do the restQ
Meantime the season of the yearL
For Christmas gifts was drawing nearL
And Sophie doubted not that sheR
An ample store of them would seeR
At length the happy hour was comeS
The children led into the roomT
Behold with wonder and surpriseU
Three tables set before their eyesU
One is for Nelly one for NedV
And both with choicest treasures spreadV
