Brigalow Mick Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CACA DEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK LMLM

A dandy old horsernan is Brigalow MickA
Which his name sir is Michael O'DowdB
Whatever he's riding when timber is thickA
He is always in front of the crowdB
-
-
A few tangled locks that are fast turning whiteC
Crown a physog the colour of brickA
But as keen as a kestrel's as bold and as brightC
Is the blue eye of Brigalow MickA
-
-
He is Martin's head stockman on Black Cattle CreekD
All the boys there are rare ones to rideE
But Mick is the 'daddy' and far you may seekD
Ere you find such an artist in hideE
-
-
He'll turn out a halter or stockwhip can makeF
As you've seldom cast eyes on beforeG
And never the 'nugget' was calved that could breakF
Michael's whips which he plaits by the scoreG
-
-
All the lads on the station are handy enoughH
Nor are frightened of grafting too hardI
But Mick if the cattle are rowdy and roughH
Is the pick of 'em all in a yardI
-
-
A bad colt to tackle a mad one to steerJ
Through thick timber you'll hear Martin boastK
Mick yet is unrivalled there isn't his peerJ
Right from Camooweal in to the coastK
-
-
Ay long may it be ere the scrubs are bereftL
Of the clearskins that give us the sportM
And long may the station have stock riders leftL
Of the build of old Brigalow's sortM
