A-shelling Peas Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGFGHEHE IJIJKEKE LMLMNENE

Now all the world is green and brightA
Outside the latticed paneB
The fields are decked with gold and whiteA
And Spring has come againC
But though the world be fair withoutD
With flow'rs and waving treesE
'Tis pleasanter to be aboutD
Where Nell's a shelling peasE
-
Her eyes are blue as cloudless skiesF
And dimples deck her cheeksG
Whilst soft lights loiter in her eyesF
Whene'er she smiles or speaksG
So all the sunlit morning tideH
I dally at mine easeE
To loaf at slender Nelly's sideH
When Nell's a shelling peasE
-
This bard who sits a watching NellI
With fingers white and slimJ
Owns up that as she breaks each shellI
She also breaks up himJ
And could devoutly drop uponK
Submissive bended kneesE
To worship Nell with apron onK
A saint a shelling peasE
-
The tucked up muslin sleeves discloseL
Her round arms white and bareM
'Tis only shelling peas that showsL
Those dainty dimples thereM
Old earth owns many sights to seeN
That captivate and pleaseE
The most bewitching sight for meN
Is Nell a shelling peasE
