A Departing Dirge Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCD EEFFGG HHIIJJ GGC GG

Girls in town and boys out backA
I've rolled up my little packA
And on june's chill wintry galesB
Sail from pleasant New South WalesB
Ere I go a doggerel songC
To bid the whole caboose 'So long 'D
-
-
Saddle gear and horses soldE
Fetched but scanty stock of goldE
Scanty yet the whole lotF
Publicans and Flossies gotF
Since I in this country landedG
Ne'er before was I so 'stranded'G
-
-
Now I'm leaving Sydney's shoreH
Harder up than e'er beforeH
A keen appetite I feelI
To taste a bit o' British vealI
And let's trust across the foamJ
They have a fatted calf at homeJ
-
-
From duns and debts once safe on boardG
Pray deliver me oh LordG
Here's the burden of my songC
'Good bye old girl Old chap So long '-
Hardest loss of all I findG
To leave the good old horse behindG
So long 'Cavalier '-
