Jack Frost Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABCCCB DDDDEEED DDDFGGGF HHHI JJJI

The Frost looked forth one still clear nightA
And whispered Now I shall be out of sightA
So through the valley and over the heightA
In silence I'll take my wayB
I will not go on like that blustering trainC
The wind and the snow the hail and the rainC
That make such a bustle and noise in vainC
But I'll be as busy as theyB
-
So he flew to the mountain and powdered its crestD
He lit on the trees and their boughs he drestD
With diamonds and pearls and over the breastD
Of the quivering lake he spreadD
A coat of mail that it need not fearE
The downward point of many a spearE
That he hung on its margin far and nearE
Where a rock could rear its headD
-
He went to the windows of those who sleptD
And over each pane like a fairy creptD
Wherever he breathed wherever he steppedD
By the light of the morn were seenF
Most beautiful things there were flowers and treesG
There were bevies of birds and swarms of beesG
There were cities with temples and towers and theseG
All pictured in silvery sheenF
-
But he did one thing that was hardly fairH
He peeped in the cupboard and finding thereH
That all had forgotten for him to prepareH
Now just to set them a thinkingI
-
I'll bite this basket of fruit said heJ
This costly pitcher I'll burst in threeJ
And the glass of water they've left for meJ
Shall 'tchick' to tell them I'm drinkingI
