Willie In Heaven: Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HIHI JKJL MNMN OPOP QAQA

They tell me in a sunny landA
Our Willie is at playB
And with him is a happy bandA
Of children good and gayB
-
They say their shining robes of whiteC
Are free from spot or stainD
That there where it is never nightC
They feel no grief or painD
-
But Willie shunned the stranger's faceE
When he was with us hereF
And in that new though lovely placeE
He will be sad I fearG
-
He'll miss me though the fields are fairH
His bright eyes will grow dimI
He has no little sister thereH
O let me go to himI
-
Our Willie is not sad my childJ
For in that heavenly homeK
There dwells the blessed Saviour mildJ
Who bids the children comeL
-
He loves them with a purer loveM
A holier than oursN
And leads them in the fields aboveM
Where spring undying flowersN
-
If no ungentle words you speakO
No wicked actions doP
And if with every day you seekO
To be more kind and trueP
-
Then by our darling Willie's sideQ
And joined in heart and handA
Forevermore shall you abideQ
Among the angel bandA
