The Rainbow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK MFNF CBOB PQRQ STUT

What is the rainbow mother dearA
With many colored lightB
Have the clouds parted just to showC
The floor of heaven so brightB
-
Or is it wings of angels pureD
That touch along the skyE
And do they come that we may seeF
How fair is all on highE
-
Or mother on that shining archG
Do spirits rise aboveH
And on that bended bow ascendI
Where all is light and loveH
-
How beautiful must be that roadJ
Why should we call those backK
Who travel to the better landL
On such a sunny trackK
-
Why did you weep when brother diedM
Did you not know that heF
On that delightful path must treadN
Ere he in heaven could beF
-
My dearest child we cannot knowC
Or trace the spirit's flightB
For sin and sorrow draw their veilO
Across our mortal sightB
-
If as the rainbow takes its huesP
Of beauty from the sunQ
We strive to live like Christ our LordR
The meek and holy OneQ
-
Then shall we dwell in Heaven's clear dayS
Which knows nor night nor moonT
For ever from the Father's throneU
Beams high and cloudless noonT
