The Fishers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBB CDCD CECE FGFG HBHB

Silence stir not for a whisperA
Would affright thy pretty preyB
Not a motion little lisperB
Else the fish will glide awayB
-
Hush he's coming he is swimmingC
Slowly round and round the baitD
Steady though thine eye is brimmingC
Full of mirth that will not waitD
-
And thy brother near thee kneelingC
Fears to hear thy ringing shoutE
Gently near and nearer stealingC
Comes the brightly spotted troutE
-
There thy hook has caught him surelyF
Firmly hold thy slender rodG
Pull away and then securelyF
Place him on the grassy sodG
-
-
-
'Neath the green boughs rustling o'er youH
Fish away the livelong dayB
And with evening's star before youH
Wander home at twilight grayB
