The Ark And The Dove Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHBH IJKJ LMNM OPQP IRSR

A rain once fell upon the earthA
For many a day and nightB
And hid the flowers the grass the treesC
The birds and beasts from sightB
-
The deep waves covered all the landD
And mountain tops so highE
And nothing could be seen aroundF
But water and the skyE
-
But yet there was one moving thingG
A still and lonely arkH
That many a weary day and nightB
Sailed o'er that ocean darkH
-
At last a little dove was forthI
From that lone vessel sentJ
But wearied to the ark againK
When evening came she bentJ
-
Again she went but soon returnedL
And in her beak was seenM
A little twig an olive branchN
With leaves of shining greenM
-
The waters sank and then the doveO
Flew from the ark once moreP
And came not back but lived amongQ
The tree tops as beforeP
-
Then from the ark they all came forthI
With songs of joy and praiseR
And once again the green earth smiledS
Beneath the sun's warm raysR
