Summer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGCC

Tis Summer I know by the blue of the skyA
By the trees' deeper green as beneath them I lieA
And more than all these by the lovely wild roseB
That now in the woodland its pink blossom showsB
-
Now ring the sharp scythes of the mowers all dayC
And they spread to the air the sweet scented hayC
They pile up the wagon ere daylight is doneD
And singing come home with the set of the sunD
-
I feel the warm west wind fan gently my cheekE
As I sit on the grass far too happy to speakE
And then in the twilight I see the faint sparkF
Of the fire fly flitting alone in the darkF
-
Oh long happy days when 'tis full of delightG
To roam in the meadows from morning till nightG
Oh summer sweet summer glide slowly awayC
For I love in your warmth and your fragrance to stayC
