Samuel Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK MNON PMQM RASAIn Bible times so long ago | A |
And in a far off city too | B |
A mother watched her only child | C |
As he in strength and beauty grew | B |
- | |
And when his little tottering feet | D |
Had scarcely learned to go alone | E |
Before his baby voice could speak | F |
Her name with a sweet joyous tone | E |
- | |
She took her boy and travelled on | G |
Away from home for many a mile | H |
That with a good and holy man | I |
Her darling son might live a while | H |
- | |
That he might learn about the God | J |
Who made the earth and sea and sky | K |
And then she left him there and turned | L |
Back to her home with many a sigh | K |
- | |
She could not place him on her knee | M |
And tell him he was very dear | N |
And so she made a little coat | O |
And brought it to him every year | N |
- | |
But you my little girl can learn | P |
While you are sitting close by me | M |
Of heaven and that kind God above | Q |
Who made in love each thing we see | M |
- | |
And you should thank Him every day | R |
That you can here His goodness know | A |
And from your pleasant happy home | S |
And your dear parents need not go | A |
