Hagar And Ishmael Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIK DCDC

'Twas morning and the pleasant lightA
Shone on the hills the trees the flowersB
And made a far off country brightA
A lovely land but not like oursB
-
A mother led her little childC
Forth from his father's door awayD
And with the flowers he played and smiledC
As beautiful and bright as theyD
-
But when at noon the warm sun beatE
Upon the sweet boy's forehead fairF
Tired and thirsty from the heatE
He asked in vain for water thereF
-
The bottle filled with water clearG
At early day was empty nowH
The mother laid her child so dearG
Beneath an old tree's spreading boughH
-
She turned away and heard the soundI
Of water gushing like the rainJ
She raised her boy from off the groundI
He drank and played and smiled againK
-
They travelled on for many a dayD
The mother and her little childC
And found a home far far awayD
At last among the deserts wildC
