Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB ADED FGHG IJDK KLML NHCH

Give us this day our daily breadA
Oh children when you prayB
And morn and night repeat these wordsC
Think what it is you sayB
-
You never asked a piece of breadA
And had that wish deniedD
For food to eat and some to spareE
Has always been suppliedD
-
But o'er the ocean many a cheekF
With want grows thin and paleG
And many suffer like the boyH
Of whom I tell this taleG
-
He lay upon some scattered strawI
His strength was almost goneJ
And in a feeble voice he criedD
Give me three grains of cornK
-
Three grains from out his jacket tornK
His trembling mother drewL
'Twas all she had she gave them himM
Though she was starving tooL
-
Be very grateful children thenN
For all that you enjoyH
Remembering as you say those wordsC
The little Irish boyH
