Evening Hymn. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH ABJB

God has kept me dearest motherA
Kindly safely through the dayB
Let me thank Him for His goodnessC
Ere the twilight fades awayB
-
For my home and friends I thank HimD
For my father mother dearE
For the hills the trees the flowersF
And the sky so bright and clearE
-
If I have been kind and gentleG
If I've spoken what was trueH
Or if I've been cross and selfishI
He has seen and known it tooH
-
Those I love He will watch overA
Though they may be far awayB
For he loves good little childrenJ
And will hear the words they sayB
