A Song For May Morning Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDDEE FGFGHIJJ KLKLMMNN OPOPQREE

Awake awake the dusky nightA
Is fading from the skyB
Awake and with the early lightA
To pleasant fields we'll hieC
Come with me and I will showD
Where the fragrant wild flowers growD
We will weave a garland gayE
For our smiling Queen of MayE
-
The sun peeps up behind the hillsF
And hark the morning songG
Of little birds the fresh air fillsF
As now we skip alongG
By the brook side cold and wetH
Blooms the pale white violetI
There's the purple blossom tooJ
Nodding with its weight of dewJ
-
The gentle wind just lifts the headK
Of many a columbineL
And taken from their rocky bedK
They in our wreaths shall twineL
Saxifrage so small and sweetM
Grows in plenty at our feetM
From the grass we gather upN
Golden bright the buttercupN
-
Now for the trailing evergreenO
That in the woodland springsP
And we will crown our May day queenO
With buds this fair month bringsP
Merriest of all the yearQ
Is the day we welcome hereR
We will sing and dance awayE
In our glee this long May dayE
