The Rude Rat And The Unostentatious Oyster Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIHJEKE LBMBNEOE LPQPRESE TGUGVEWE

Upon the shore a mile or moreA
From traffic and confusionB
An oyster dwelt because he feltC
A longing for seclusionB
Said he I love the stillness ofD
This spot It's like a cloisterE
These words I quote because you noteF
They rhyme so well with oysterE
-
A prying rat believing thatG
She needed change of dietH
In search of such disturbed this muchI
To be desired quietH
To say the least this tactless beastJ
Was apt to rudely roisterE
She tapped his shell and called him wellK
A name that hurt the oysterE
-
I see she cried you're open wideL
And searching for a reasonB
September's here and so it's clearM
That oysters are in seasonB
She smiled a smile that showed this styleN
Of badinage rejoiced herE
Advanced a pace with easy graceO
And sniffed the silent oysterE
-
The latter's pride was sorely triedL
He thought of what he could sayP
Reflected what the common lotQ
Of vulgar molluscs would sayP
Then caught his breath grew pale as deathR
And as his brow turned moisterE
Began to close and nipped her noseS
Superb dramatic oysterE
-
We note with joy that oi polloiT
Whom maidens bite the thumb atG
Are apt to try some weak replyU
To things they should be dumb atG
THE MORAL then for crafty menV
Is When a maid has voiced herE
Contemptuous heart don't think you're smartW
But shut up like the oysterE
