The Road To Roundabout Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFEEEFGHIIIH JKLKMKIIIKNOIIIP LQRQRQRRRQIHIIIH

Some say that Guy of WarwickA
The man that killed the CowB
And brake the mighty Boar aliveC
Beyond the bridge at SloughD
Went up against a Loathly WormE
That wasted all the DownsF
And so the roads they twist and squirmE
If a may be allowed the termE
From the writhing of the stricken WormE
That died in seven townsF
I see no scientific proofG
That this idea is soundH
And I should say they wound aboutI
To find the town of RoundaboutI
The merry town of RoundaboutI
That makes the world go roundH
-
Some say that Robin GoodfellowJ
Whose lantern lights the meadsK
To steal a phrase Sir Walter ScottL
In heaven no longer needsK
Such dance around the trysting placeM
The moonstruck lover leadsK
Which superstition I should scoutI
There is more faith in honest doubtI
As Tennyson has pointed outI
Than in those nasty creedsK
But peace and righteousness St JohnN
In Roundabout can kissO
And since that's all that's found aboutI
The pleasant town of RoundaboutI
The roads they simply bound aboutI
To find out where it isP
-
Some say that when Sir LancelotL
Went forth to find the GrailQ
Grey Merlin wrinkled up the roadsR
For hope that he would failQ
All roads lead back to LyonesseR
And Camelot in the ValeQ
I cannot yield assent to thisR
Extravagant hypothesisR
The plain shrewd Briton will dismissR
Such rumours Daily MailQ
But in the streets of RoundaboutI
Are no such factions foundH
Or theories to expound aboutI
Or roll upon the ground aboutI
In the happy town of RoundaboutI
That makes the world go roundH
