| ABOU BEN ADHEM may his tribe decrease | B |

| For them alone I labour to reclaim | F |

| Let daylight through their tents and through their lives | H |
| Number their camels even count their wives | I |
| Plot out the desert into streets and squares | J |
| And count it a more fruitful work than theirs | J |
| Who lift a vain and visionary love | K |
